There’s not alot happening at the moment. Life goes on, throws its curve balls but nothing major at all right now. Got a relaxing weekend which is probably gonna result in me seeing 300 twice, good thing it’s a good movie! And some sweet formula one from Belgium which is always offering some surprises. And I hit 94 kilos this morning which I guess means I might as well continue until 89 (why make it even?). And as expected when I tried to get deep and talk emotions with “her” she shut down. And we’re bound to meet up again at a party next weekend so looking forward to that… or am I… oh well, gonna enjoy this rainy Friday with a beefy burger and complete apathy towards everything!
$10 if you know where that quote comes from 🙂
I don’t like a little bit of chaos. I get too worked up and think too much and it’s just wrong. Like if the train is 10 minutes late I’ll get worried about making it into to work and that thing I had to do first thing in the morning. But fortunately, when the shit really hits the fan I have a really good ability to just lay back and enjoy the chaos and anarchy. And today was one of those times! I got to the trainstation at my usual time, 7:15. And it was a madhouse, no trains going nowhere. So I go to the taxi stop right next to it and there are like hundred people waiting for taxis there, everyone worried about their little thing. So I get into my car instead and start driving and it’s total chaos on the roads too. Tunnels closed, alot of construction works, accidents, really everything shitty happened this morning. And there I was, sitting in the middle of it all and all I could think about was.. “I forgot to shave this morning”…
I saw season 6 of “24” last week. I dunno what to make of that show, sometimes it’s getting a bit repetetive and this time it was even predictable. But I can’t help it, I just have to watch the next episode. And the next. And the next. And got a big movie weekend coming up with both Die Hard 4 and Transformers that I’m actually gonna watch “the way it was meant to” 🙂
Same old same old… trying to keep my allergies and rash under control which I’m barely managing, think I may need another visit to the doctors for this soon. Had a kick ass weekend which included, but wasn’t limited to, my sister, brother and nephew pulling an all nighter on Saturday to enjoy the F1 premiere from Australia. Loved it! And tonight I’m going out with my old employer “Pulsen” but as a customer for once…
Some movie reviews ; “The Prestige” – Weird movie that was hugely disappointing and was filmed weirder than “Memento”. “Stranger Than Fiction” – I don’t know if it’s because I hit my 30’s but all of a sudden there’s a huge onslaught of movies about people asking “where is my life going?” and re-discovers themselves. Is that a sign or what? Pretty decent movie. And we finished off with “Eurotrip”. No matter what mood you’re in, that movie always works. It’s a shame it didn’t get any bigger than it was because it so totally owns.
So yesterday I decided to indulge. I had after all been dumped (however amicably) and felt like feeling sorry for myself and decided to go to Heron City and enjoy a movie or two, Pizza Hut and all that crap that blows my sugerlevel sky high. And it was good. It was very long since I’d done that.
I saw two movies – “Casino Royale” and “Superman Returns”. “Casino Royale” was pretty ok, not alot of action for being James Bond. But the story was pretty good even though it felt a bit too… “common” for Bond to play Texas Hold’em. And Craig as Bond was pretty damn good, I’d only seen him in “The Jacket” playing a psycho but in this he was probably the coldest Bond of them all.
“Superman Returns” was also pretty good. Superman has always been my favorite superhero for some reason and this movie really delivered. I particularly liked that they still had Marlon Brando as his father rather than trying someone else. But Lois Lane as a mother didn’t quite feel right. And it reminds me of a classic Kevin Smith dialogue from “Mallrats” regarding her fallopian tubes… everyone who’s seen it knows what I mean 🙂
Both movies were ok but nothing that’ll go down in movie history as “best ever!” I think. Pretty succesfull sunday.
This must be the fall/winter-depression coming on a bit late but now I’m depressed. I saw “Clerks 2” the other day and since then I’ve been in a “who am I why am I here and where am I going?”-state which is all kinds of depressive things. And just like that our WoW guild is splitting up (which is seing something I worked hard for 18 months go down the drain) and if that’s not enough – when I have the perfect opportunity to show a little bit of romance with a prospective girlfriend my car dies on me and ruins the entire thing. God damnit!!!
But yeah, atleast I have a prospective girlfriend, that cheers me up a bit (and thank you Mats for letting that cat out of the bag). But then my ever cheerful sis cheers me up with “you’re doing good, have a job, don’t live with your parents, you got your health and so does both your parents, what are you whining about?”….
True that, what am I whining about? And will that help?…
The other day as I was flipping through channels I ended up on the “Actor’s Studio”. It’s one of those “let’s talk to famous people in movie bizz and see what they have to say” programs, but it’s actually usually quite good and some of them have things to say. And this time it was Michael J. Fox doing his best to try to sit there and talk about his career and Parkinsons. I particularly liked his attitude that “hey, everyone has their problems and issues, but they’ve learnt to deal with them and wouldn’t trade them for anyone elses” and how much a terrible thing like this was a “gift that kept on taking” in that it had helped him live life and appreciate everything.
And here I am with my biggest problems being a woman at work that don’t like me and owing the IRS $2000. Problem one is gonna solve itself since she’s decided to leave the company (which was what I tried talking to her about) and problem two is gonna be solved – somehow…
The other day, me and Ricki was invited home to Eva’s place. It’s been awhile since we got together just to slack a whole day and being uselss. They had bought a new game called “master of movie” which was kinda like trivial pursuit but all movies all the way. When she had played it with her husband and friends it took them a few hours to complete. But I won it in less than 45 minutes. Then during the weekend I did another round of trivial pursuit with my family and by the time I called it because it was getting late I was a close 2nd. If only I could fill my head with usefull things like they are trying to teach me at this MS Exchange course than I’m attending right now…
I saw Flatley’s new danceshow Celtic Tiger on DVD the other day. I loved “Lord of the Dance” and “Feet of Flames” but I had no idea what to expect out of this. Since it’s the same guy & crew I knew it was gonna be some of the same stuff….
At first I was wondering what tha hell this was and if there was a story anywhere but after a few number it really picked up speed and by the time it crossed the atlantic I was so digging it and it just got better. Some awesome numbers in there and the 2 favorites where the dance-mixing that made the producers of “Let’s Dance” feel like newbies, and the stepping to rock music number that felt very original. Overall a good investment and I’m sure my neighbors agreed cause it was loud…
I’m gonna hit 31 this year, but I still love the drama “Pump Up The Volume” from 1990. I shouldn’t, especially since one of my favorite quotes was “society is mutating so rapidly that anyone over the age of 20 really has no idea”..
But I still love it..
Just came home from seeing “V for Vendetta”. Awesome flick! Everything one could hope for when going to the movies. Great movie, great action, great dialogue, great script, great explosions, great music – and Natalie Portman. Ofc there was some less than perfect things in the movie, like Natalie trying to pull of a british accent, but overall an awesome movie! Go see it!
So what did you do last night? If you’re answer is anything less than “bought dinner for John Rhys-David and Marina Sirtis” I got you beat! You’d think I’d be most impressed with meeting Marina Sirtis since I’m a trekker, but I’ve always been impressed by John! He’s just an awesome actor and now I can even say that he’s a great guy. And deep too! We had a Q&A with them and one of the most interesting ideas he proposed was to teach everything in school through history. Math, geography, religion, science, everything. And he was fun to. Unfortunately he was exhausted so after the Q&A and dinner I took them back to their hotel. Great saturday for me!!
Yesterday some idiots proved another odd point they made in “Crash” – criminals don’t watch the Discovery channel. If they did they’d probably do their homework alot better. Because yesterday some 3-4 guys decided to rob a Securitas van carrying money to their clients. They got into the van by blowing it up, really smart, huh? But that’s not the funny thing. Their escape plan wasn’t the best so they had to stop, or atleast delay, the police to give them a head start so they sat a few cars on fire on the E4 highway at the bridge at VÃ¥rby. Good plan. Except if they knew anything they’d know the cops come down on the highway at the NEXT exit (Slagsta) so that stunt had no effect at all except jam up traffic for a few hours. Geez, stupid criminals. I happen to know this cause I drive that road alot. But I guess we should be happy they’re stupid.
You know how sometimes a movie you’ve never heard of comes along and just blows you away? Well, sometimes that doesn’t really happen! I saw “Crash” posted on an internet site and checked it up on IMDB and it had gotten great reviews. And it was another one of those movies that follow alot of differnet people and plots that come together at some point, stuff I usually like. So I bought it on DVD instead of download it. But man was I disappointed!! It was very, very racist. As a matter of fact, it was about nothing else than racism and prejudice. And I guess I was brought up in a way too protected environment to get this kinda thing. The only one I could relate to was Sandra Bullocks character that posed the question “where is the line between protecting yourself and racism”. That after having their car stolen by 2 black guys. And acting wise the only one that excelled was Thandie Newton. If you wanna see a day of 10 more or less racist peoples lifes in LA, go see it. If not – don’t.
American double-standards are in full swing again! If you haven’t been following the story of Grand Theft Auto : San Andreas, here’s a recap : The game is a very violent game in which you kill people with guns or bats or whatever, steal cars and you’re a general bad guy. It’s sold like butter so far even though it had a “Mature (17+)” rating. Now a couple of programmers not related to the manufacturers at all released a little addon to the game that unlocks a part of the game that was previously hidden. It was in there but locked by the creators of the game. It was a little erotic mini game that takes place when the original game just shows the exterior of the house with moaning in the background. And when that got a bit of media attention all hell broke lose in america and thanks to political preassure they have to re-rate the game to Adults Only, and the creators of the game will complete take this part away to try to lower the rating.
Now here’s my thought : A game which goal is to kill people and do all kinds of illegal stuff is rated “mature”, but as soon as there’s a little change (by a third party) that involves sex, that’s when they start to protest and label it “adults only”? I would’ve thought it was the other way around! Can’t those americans get over their conservative “we don’t talk about sex even though everyone is doing it”-attitude? “Mature” is 17+, and isn’t that the perfect time to play these erotic mini-games rather than go around cyber-town waving double 9mm Barettas? I’m starting to think that the violent incidents like Columbine more had with sexual frustration than it had with the Matrix or Marilyn Manson! But ofcourse that’s me and I grew up playing Liesure Suit Larry that my parents didn’t really know it was 🙂
Am I the only one who’s so sick and tired of this Brad & Angelina BS? You can’t do a quick newsscan without reading something about them somewhere, are they or aren’t they. Who gives a crap?! Nobody that I wanna know cares either way or wanna read it so shut up. And that includes me!
Yesterday as I was walking along Kungsgatan I noticed a bunch of people putting up tents and stuff and forming a long line outside one of our biggest cinema’s, Rigoletto. To any normal average Joe this might’ve looked weird and stupid and made no sense what so ever. Not to me. To me it’s inspiring to see how this many people can be so dedicated to a movie saga that they’ll sleep on the streets just to be sure to get the tickets for the first showing of the new Star Wars movie. Other people may think it’s geeky and looooooser-style, but I respect it. If I didn’t have a job, if sweden was knocked out of the hockey championship and if I had a tent, I might have joined them. But nah, I’ll just wait ’til Monday when I can order the tickets online!
Well that was a very relaxing weekend that I certainly needed! On friday I enjoyed some Underworld and Higlander on my new projector I bought myself as a 30th birthday gift, on saturday I enjoyed a Star Trek videoday with friends and trekkers and ended with a good hockeygame as Sweden crushed Canada and then on Sunday I slept late, enjoyed a (disappointing) Formula 1 race at O’Learys with both of my sisters and finished with another hockeygame as Sweden got crushed by the US of A. All in all – GREAT WEEKEND!
Have you seen “Hotel Rwanda”? Sometimes it’s good to see these super-depressing movies – you get a good reality check on what’s on important. Some stuff that seems really important just … aren’t … and to quote the cameraman “I feel so ashamed”. At seeing stuff like this on TV and the western world who’s suppose to be more civilized not doing shit… when seeing super-depressing stuff like “Schindler’s List” I can excuse myself that it wasn’t in my lifetime. Can’t hide behind that this time.
I just saw “Saw”. Really scary movie. Scary as in chilling. How far would one go to survive and for ones family? I wouldn’t cut off my own foot, that’s for sure. Not that I wouldn’t want to, I just wouldn’t be able to. But a pretty good movie and another proof you don’t need that big budget to do a good movie. Then I saw “Code 46”, one of the weirdest flics I’ve seen! Not good weird and not bad weird, just weird…
That’s one more unproductive weekedend to the history books. Been a while since I’ve had one of those.
